Cross Country Skiing
There are extensive cross country ski tracks all through the valley from Dorfgastein to Sportgastein. If it's something you've not tried before, leave your downhill skis at home and take a lesson, discounted with your Gastein Card.

Winter Walking
Take yourself away from the action of the piste and wander through the untouched snowy woods in the Gasteinertal.
Winter walking using snow shoes is a popular activity and Sport Gastein is the perfect location. Hire your own shoes and either take a guide or yourself into the winter wonderland.

Ice Climbing & Winter Mountaineering
For the more adventurous, there are countless waterfalls around Bockstein and Sportgastein which are frozen in winter. A playground for ice climbers! If you're really keen, there are several 3000+m peaks in the area which are snow capped all year round.
